Terms of Service

The agreement between you and stat-api for use of our API and website.

Last updated: 2026-10-10

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the stat-api website, API, and related services (the "Service"), operated by Verum Technologies LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("stat-api", "we", "us"). By creating an account, requesting an API key, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & acceptance

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract, and you must not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law or sanctions list. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.

2. Definitions

"API" means the stat-api application programming interface. "API Key" means the credential issued to authenticate your requests. "Data" means the sports, statistical, betting, and daily-fantasy data returned by the Service. "Subscription" or "Plan" means a service tier (Free, Starter, Pro, Elite, or Enterprise). "Record" means one row of Data returned by the API; each Plan includes a monthly record quota. "User" means any person other than you who accesses the Data, or any application, model, service, or output that relies on the Data, whether or not that person pays. Your employees, contractors, teammates, and customers, and members of the public, are all Users. "Derivative Work" means output that you create from the Data, such as a projection, rating, model, or analysis, and that cannot substitute for the Data or the Service. "Annual Revenue" means the total gross revenue, from all sources, in the most recent twelve (12) months, of the business that holds the Plan and of any business that owns or operates the Elite App, together with their affiliates; when an individual holds the Plan, the individual's business activities count as a business. "Slate and Contest Data" means slates, slate players and their salaries, and contests with their entry fees, prize pools, payouts, standings, lineups, and ownership.

3. Accounts & API keys

You register through a supported sign-in provider (currently Google). You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and API Key, for keeping your API Key confidential, and for promptly notifying us at [email protected] of any suspected compromise. We may issue a shared trial key (such as `trial_demo`) for evaluation only; it is rate- and scope-limited and may be changed or revoked at any time.

4. Plans, billing & renewal

Paid Plans are billed through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically for successive terms until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period; fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.

Promotional pricing applies only while offered and may end or change at any time; standard pricing applies on renewal unless stated otherwise. Prices are exclusive of taxes, which you are responsible for. We may change pricing with reasonable advance notice, effective on your next renewal.

5. License & permitted use

Subject to these Terms and your active Plan, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to call the API and use the Data.

Single user. The Free, Starter, Pro, and Elite Plans are each licensed to one individual, and only that individual may call the API. On each of these four Plans, the license covers that individual's own use: private research, sports analytics, and personal modeling. The Elite Plan also adds the Elite commercial license below. You may download, store, cache, and retain the Data, including all contest data, and build your own models on it, for your own personal use. You may keep Data that you downloaded while your Plan was active after the Plan ends, for the same personal use. Each Plan's monthly record quota is sized for one individual.

No publishing. The Free, Starter, and Pro Plans are for personal use only. You may not publish the Data in any shape or form, for example as a file, table, chart, screenshot, post, website, or application.

No Users. The Free, Starter, and Pro Plans do not permit Users. You may not give any User access to the Data, to your API Key, or to any application, model, service, or output that relies on the Data. This prohibition applies whether or not the User pays, and whether the User is inside or outside your organization.

Elite commercial license. The Elite Plan adds a commercial license. While your Plan is active and your Annual Revenue is less than USD 100,000, you may build and operate your own website, application, newsletter, bot, or social media account that relies on the Data, including the messages it sends to its Users (each an "Elite App"), charge for it or offer it free, and let Users use it. Users of an Elite App may see the Data and your Derivative Works, on screen or in downloads, within the Elite limits below. A short summary of this license is at stat-api.com/license.

Elite limits. Under the Elite Plan, you may not: (a) offer any product or service that competes with the Service as a source of sports data, such as an API, data feed, database, or bulk export of the Data; (b) let Users download Slate and Contest Data as a file, such as a CSV, JSON, or spreadsheet file, including a file attached to a message or posted by a bot (a file of the lineups that a User builds in your Elite App, listing only the players of each lineup in the operator's upload format, for upload to DraftKings or FanDuel, is a Derivative Work and is permitted); (c) show Users the projections or projected ownership that the Service publishes, which you may use only as inputs to your own Derivative Works; or (d) publish the Data anywhere other than in your Elite App. When your Annual Revenue reaches USD 100,000 or more, you need an Enterprise License to continue to operate an Elite App.

Powered by STAT-API. Each Elite App must show the "Powered by STAT-API" badge that we publish at stat-api.com/license, with its link to stat-api.com, on each page or screen that shows the Data or your Derivative Works, or in a header, footer, or menu that appears on each such page or screen. Each website or application that is an Elite App also shows the badge at the bottom of its home page or home screen. In a newsletter, the words "Powered by STAT-API" with that link may take the place of the badge in each issue that holds the Data or your Derivative Works. A bot or a social media account may show those words with that link in each message or post that holds the Data or your Derivative Works, or in its profile. You may change the size of the badge, down to 32 pixels high, but not its colors, its words, or its link. The link may carry rel="nofollow".

Enterprise. Except as the Elite commercial license permits, any use that involves Users, and any distribution of the Data, requires a separate written commercial license (an "Enterprise License"). Each Enterprise License states what its Users may receive, and whether its sites and apps show the "Powered by STAT-API" badge.

No data feeds, on any Plan. You may not sell, license, sublicense, syndicate, rent, or redistribute the Data, in raw or transformed form, except in an Elite App as this Section permits, or as an Enterprise License states. You may not offer any product or service whose primary purpose is to supply sports data, such as an API, feed, file export, or database that could substitute for the Service.

6. Acceptable use & restrictions

You agree not to:

  • exceed or attempt to evade the monthly record quota or rate limits applicable to your Plan;
  • share, sublicense, or resell your API Key, or create multiple accounts to circumvent limits;
  • resell, sublicense, syndicate, rent, or redistribute the Data or any portion thereof, except as Section 5 permits for an Elite App or as an Enterprise License states;
  • give any User access to the Data, or to anything that relies on the Data, except as the Elite commercial license or an active Enterprise License permits;
  • offer any API, feed, file export, database, or other product or service whose primary purpose is to supply sports data;
  • scrape the Service, or extract Data in a manner designed to bypass the API, your record quota, or your license;
  • reverse engineer, or attempt to derive source code of, the Service;
  • use the Service to operate a sportsbook, betting exchange, or other gambling operation; or
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

7. Data sources & accuracy

The Data is aggregated and derived from third-party and publicly available sources and is provided "AS IS". We do not warrant that the Data is accurate, complete, current, or uninterrupted. The Data is not an official record and must not be relied upon for official scoring, wagering settlement, financial decisions, or as a system of record. You are responsible for validating the Data for your use case.

8. No betting, financial, or professional advice

The Service, including daily-fantasy and betting data, is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute betting, investment, legal, or other professional advice. You assume all risk for decisions you make using the Data, and you are solely responsible for complying with all gambling, securities, and other laws applicable to you in your jurisdiction.

9. Intellectual property & non-affiliation

We and our licensors own the Service, the API, the compilation and organization of the Data, and the website, including all related intellectual property. League, team, and event names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

stat-api is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA Tour, DraftKings, or any league, operator, or data provider.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Stripe (payments), Google (authentication), Cloudflare (hosting and delivery), and upstream data providers. Your use of those features may be subject to the third party's own terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

11. Changes to the Service & availability

We may add, modify, deprecate, or remove endpoints, Data, or coverage at any time, and will use reasonable efforts to give notice of material changes. The Service is provided without any uptime or service-level guarantee unless an Enterprise agreement states otherwise.

12. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, and revoke your API Key, for breach of these Terms, non-payment, abuse, security risk, or as required by law. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Section 5 for Data that you downloaded while your Plan was active, and Sections 7-9 and 13-17) will survive.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, stat-api will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the fees you paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the claim or USD 100.

15. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless stat-api and its affiliates from any claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, any access to the Data that you give to Users, or any redistribution of the Data, beyond your license, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice (for example by posting an updated date or notifying you). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, seated in Bergen County, New Jersey; judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or stop unauthorized use of the Service. You and stat-api each waive any right to a jury trial and to bring or participate in a class or representative action; disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis.

18. Miscellaneous

You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

Notices to us, and questions about these Terms, may be sent to [email protected] or by mail to Verum Technologies LLC, 466 Hackensack Ave #1265, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601, USA.
